Packaging trended on TV commercials/Social Media
Has it happened to you, that you saw a commercial about a new product and it has urged you to purchase it?
I have got lured multiple times to purchase items by the way commercial advertisements demonstrate a new product launch. It has so happened that sometimes the hero of the ad would be packaging rather than a product.
It is very interesting that brands have leveraged packaging to demonstrate stories on large screens. Packaging has been used multiple times as a demo tool to highlight new features, applications, or innovation of products on social media platforms.
Packaging as a Demo tool?
Where a brand has leveraged a packaging to reach out to a specific target audience by demonstrating or highlighting feature, application, or unboxing experience of the product packaging. Majorly, the packaging is used as a demo tool for a new product launch where innovation quotient in packaging is high or simply to create a sensation through its marketing campaign for fun.
Many firms have started using packaging as a demo tool. It increases the reach among the targeted consumer and has an impactful launch. It also helps in registering the story in the consumer's minds. Now the story that you have seen on screen will always be imprinted in your memory while using such products.
Here are a few examples that pop in my head while thinking of such demo tool packaging:
1. Indulekha Bringha Oil: The ad disrupted the market in the hair oil segment and presented itself as a very strong solution of hair oil application. The demonstration of applying oil to hair got very well connected with the target audience who strictly follows the regime of applying oil. The ads demonstrate very well how this product packaging can help the oil to reach the roots of the hair & strengthen it. #Indulekhahairoil
2. Kit Kat Love birds: This ad was launched when I was in my teens and still have a fresh memory of this ad. The simple idea of sharing chocolate with your loved ones was highlighted so well through packaging here. The unboxing experience of packaging and sharing it with your loved ones became a trend after that. #kitkat
3. iD Vada packaging: The New-age packaging targeting Millennials and how quickly you can make one of the most tedious dishes in a few minutes. The commercial set a great context by demonstrating hassle-free cooking and reducing the stress of making from scratch with the help of packaging. Kudos, Now I can eat some menu vadas at home :) #idpvadapackaging
4. Lays: The most trending ad of 2019 where everyone wanted to buy a bag of lays and click a selfie. A packaging converted into a viral sensation. This is a good example to explain a marketing-driven campaign used packaging as a demo tool to create a sensation rather than highlighting the application or usage of the product.
There are so many examples. This brings joy to me that packaging has extended its arm in presenting brand stories on social media platforms and TV commercials in an impactful manner. It is a great opportunity to leverage packaging as a demo tool to create a buzz on social media platforms and reach a higher audience.
Enjoy watching videos and recall memories where unknowingly you may have got lured in purchasing goods by seeing such ads.
